10 Upcoming Horror Games That Should Be on Your Radar
Horror fans have plenty to look forward to. While 2026 has already delivered several major horror releases, the genre is far from slowing down. The months ahead are packed with psychological horror, survival horror, supernatural adventures and even a long-awaited return to the Alien universe.
From established franchises such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil to new projects that could become the next big names in horror, there are plenty of reasons to keep your wishlist busy.
Here are 10 upcoming horror games worth watching in 2026 and beyond.
1. Silent Hill: Townfall
Release date: September 24, 2026
One of the most interesting upcoming psychological horror games is Silent Hill: Townfall.
Developed by Screen Burn Interactive and published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive, the game takes players to the mysterious Scottish setting of St. Amelia.
Unlike recent third-person Silent Hill titles, Townfall uses a first-person perspective. Players control Simon Ordell and investigate a strange town while using a portable television called the CRTV to discover signals, clues and nearby threats.
The game also features stealth, combat, puzzles and multiple endings affected by player choices.
With its September release approaching, this is easily one of the horror games to watch this year.
2. The Sinking City 2
Release date: August 18, 2026
The next game arrives much sooner.
The Sinking City 2 is a Lovecraftian survival-horror game from Frogwares, set in the 1920s.
Players will explore a dark version of Arkham while confronting supernatural creatures and investigating an unsettling mystery.
The game is scheduled for August 18, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
For fans of atmospheric horror mixed with exploration, investigation and combat, this could be one of August's biggest releases.
3. Halloween: The Game
Release date: September 8, 2026
Michael Myers is returning to video games.
Halloween: The Game, developed by IllFonic, takes players back to the world of the classic Halloween franchise.
The game is set during the events of the original 1978 Halloween and combines survival horror with multiplayer gameplay. Players can either take on the role of Michael Myers or attempt to survive against him.
The game is scheduled to launch on September 8, 2026, for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
For fans of asymmetrical horror, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.
4. Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival
Release date: October 8, 2026
If psychological horror isn't disturbing enough, Hellraiser: Revival is taking things considerably further.
The game is a first-person survival-horror experience set in the world created by Clive Barker.
Players take on the role of Aiden and must survive against the Cenobites while using the mysterious Genesis Configuration puzzle box. Saber Interactive has confirmed an October 8 release for PS5, with the game also planned for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
This is one for players who prefer their horror dark, violent and unapologetically disturbing.
5. Alien: Isolation 2
Release date: TBA
After years of waiting, the Alien: Isolation sequel has finally been officially announced.
Creative Assembly and SEGA revealed Alien: Isolation 2 in June 2026. The game will return to the survival-horror formula that made the original so memorable, once again putting players against the terrifying Xenomorph.
The sequel will feature a new setting, story and protagonist. Players will explore a remote colony world and the Weyland-Yutani outpost known as Kurosaki Station.
There is currently no confirmed release date, so don't believe websites claiming an exact launch day.
6. Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake
Release window: 2027
Capcom has officially confirmed another major Resident Evil remake.
The company announced that Resident Evil Veronica is scheduled for release in 2027.
The project will remake the 2000 survival-horror classic Resident Evil Code: Veronica using Capcom's RE Engine, with a reimagined story and modern graphics. It is planned for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
There is still a lot we don't know about the game, including its exact release date and detailed gameplay features.
Nevertheless, its announcement alone makes it one of the most interesting future horror releases.
7. OD
Release date: TBA
Hideo Kojima's mysterious horror project OD remains one of the industry's biggest question marks.
The game is being developed by Kojima Productions and published by Xbox Game Studios.
Details remain limited, which is arguably part of the game's appeal.
Kojima has described OD as a project that explores a new type of horror experience, and the involvement of filmmaker Jordan Peele has only increased interest.
For now, there is no official release date, so this is one to watch rather than one to pre-order.
8. ILL
Release date: TBA
ILL is another horror game that has attracted attention for its extremely detailed visual presentation.
The project from Team Clout is described as a first-person action-horror game and is coming to PS5. The developers have highlighted their background in filmmaking and motion-captured horror sequences.
One of its biggest selling points is its unsettling atmosphere and disturbing creature design.
The release date remains unconfirmed, so fans will have to wait for further announcements.
9. Silent Hill Remake
Release date: TBA
Konami is also working with Bloober Team on a remake of the original Silent Hill.
The project was officially teased in 2025, and it remains one of the most anticipated horror projects currently in development.
Unlike Silent Hill: Townfall, however, there is currently no official release date to put on the calendar.
That makes this one a longer-term watch, but the combination of the original game's reputation and the modern success of the Silent Hill franchise makes it particularly interesting.
10. Alien: Isolation 2 — Why It Deserves Extra Attention
Yes, we're giving Alien: Isolation 2 extra attention — because it deserves it.
The original Alien: Isolation became famous for making the Xenomorph feel unpredictable and genuinely dangerous. The sequel promises to continue that approach while introducing a new setting and new characters.
Creative Assembly says the team is working to make the Alien an even more formidable threat, while keeping the focus on survival and tension.
With the game officially announced but still lacking a release date, there's plenty of time for more information to emerge.
